TrackQueen

Learn more about your music 💿 👑

by John Canelis, Product Designer

TrackQueen is a native mobile app I designed and built for iOS and Android.

The app fetches your currently playing song using the Spotify API or the audio you record nearby (like Shazam) and then gathers relevant content. Lyrics, videos, background information, social context, production notes, comments and more are made available instantly. This is all made possible by gathering data from APIs like YouTube, Genius, Musixmatch, and ChatGPT.

I created this product because too often I found myself jumping across several websites to find all of the information about a song I was listening to. There had to be an easier way.

You can download TrackQueen on the App Store, view the source code on GitHub, and browse the marketing site to learn more.

An overview of how TrackQueen works

While Spotify has slowly added similar content (e.g., SongDNA) within its applications, I often feel underwhelmed with the implementation. These micro features are added sparingly, in beta, and sometimes completely disappear. I find Spotify to be a great utility, while TrackQueen can act as a separate and deeper contextual experience.
